Job: Preserver of computer files (Wycliffe Associates UK)
Location: United Kingdom
Wycliffe Associates have taken on the large task of collecting, preserving and storing all the computer files of translated Scripture for the 2300 languages into which the Bible has so far been translated. This Bible for the Future Project will ensure that future generations of Christians will be able to have access to the Bible in their own language.
You will receive files on CD. A single CD may contain the files from several languages. Your task is to copy the files on to new CDs - one language per CD. Sometimes the files come in formats that are unsuitable for long-term storage. So you may receive MS Word files or Ventura files, and these will need converting into text files. We also need to include information about the data on each disk - the language name, the translators name etc. And you will need to store the data on the CD in a well organised way.
This job needs a careful person, who has a computer with a CD writer, and who will help to make sure this vital data is preserved and ready for future users. For more information see http://www.wycliffeassociates.org.uk/futurebible.htm
For this role you would need to be UK resident and a committed Christian.
You need to have permission to live and work in the UK to apply for this vacancy.
This position is not salaried.
